Data sharing and healthcare reform are intertwined because of a proven correlation between the unobstructed movement of patient data and better clinical decision-making.
While many data exchange techniques are available in the market, this paper focuses on a few approaches that are readily available, economical to implement, and are supported by HHS/CMS/ONC via incentive payment programs.
These include secure messaging (aka: email encryption), Direct Messaging, and Open APIs. Use case examples from real world deployments support this position.
