DataMotion™ Offers Secure Cloud-Based Email Encryption Solutions for the Healthcare Industry

June 16, 2011

Morristown, NJ, June 16, 2011DataMotion, Inc., a leading provider of secure email encryption solutions, today announced its SecureMail technology is available for the healthcare industry to help  comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act.  Everyday CIOs, risk managers and IT directors are tasked with streamlining healthcare administration, safeguarding confidential and proprietary data and securely connecting organizations to patients, partners and customers – all without impeding the process of providing better healthcare.

“A paradigm shift is taking place in the way the healthcare industry is managing sensitive patient information,” said Bob Janacek, CTO, DataMotion. “The Internet is a powerful tool for electronic information and can enhance care for patients.  However, ever tightening privacy regulations combined with increased security threats underscore the need to protect patients’ personal information.  By using SecureMail, organizations can be assured that the sensitive information they exchange is secure and in compliance.”

HIPAA compliance is particularly challenging for healthcare providers when sharing Personal Health Information (PHI) with doctors, clinics, hospitals and insurance companies.  Many healthcare providers either resort to sending the information through postal mail or overnight delivery, or they take a risk and send through unencrypted email, potentially exposing private data.  SecureMail makes this process faster and more convenient for providers and their partners.

One estimate shows 20 to 30 percent of all healthcare invoices having some type of issue that delays payment, a major impact on revenue and provider resources. By using SecureMail providers can automatically send invoices electronically, leading to more accurate invoicing and accounts receivable.  The invoices are trackable and the provider can immediately tell if the invoice was delivered and opened by the payee.

DataMotion SecureMail  is a cost-effective service that automatically encrypts messages between an organization and its constituents. In addition, SecureMail works within existing email systems and does not require any additional hardware or infrastructure. With SecureMail organizations can be up and running in less than an hour, ensuring messages are protected and compliant with internal policies and external regulations.
